I think a 'tour of speculative fiction' of some sort, similar to Oprah's book list, would be a fantastically useful thing. It would allow us to benefit in a new way from the wisdom of a man whose judgment we respect, and give fans a much broader common basis to relate to each other with.
But theres more--I am mildly paranoid that my education has been limited or missing something essential. Friends and acquaintances have all read different things and swear that i need to read what they promote. I don't know who to believe! I will stick to my education, if I have a good instructor.
So I would ask OSC to institute such a thing as a public service to the community.
I humbly beg someone with OSC's ear to consider my request and pass it on if they consider it worthy.

Check out his reviews here. They only cover a few years, but they cover a lot of books. Also, look at the book he edited, called Masterpieces, a collection of his favorite sci-fi short stories from last century. Future on Fire and Future on Ice, two other anthologies he edited, will also help you, even though they only cover the 80s.
