I have been reading and am almost finished with the Homecoming saga i'm less than 100 pages from finishing Earthborn. I have a copy of both Hart's hope and Worthing Saga i was wondering in your opinions which book i should read first right now i'm tempted just to flip a coin and decide that way but anyone's feed back would be much appreciated.

i personally prefer hart's hope, but i would not suggest it to another unless they were ready for some harsh content. the worthing saga is an excellent book with a happier story. it really is dependant on what you are looking to read.

Its hard to tell you which one you should read. Theyre both good and you should read them both! But which one first? I'd say Worthing Saga. It was such an interesting book, filled with many different short stories that all kind of went together. It really was neat, one of my favorites.
side note: I could see alot of mormon influences in the story but you probably have to know about mormon background to know where there are influences.

Hart's Hope is a very original fantasy book, and it reads a little different than what you might be used to from Card.
Worthing is admittedly a much longer and involved read, and also has more science fiction elements than Hart's Hope.
Personally, I would read Worthing Saga, but that's based on my own preference.

Hart's Hope is different from Card's other works. It is fantasy in a more traditional sense (magic and kings and prophecies and such) mixed with awful violence and beauty. It is, far and above, my favorite. I should read it again!
Worthing Saga actually might work as a nice compliment to the first book (or 2? it's been years!) of the Homecoming series. Explaining that would involve way more spoilers than you want me to post.

Both are excellent. Just depends if you're in the mood for science-fiction or fantasy.

Everybody thanks for the input i finally decided i would just flip a coin and started reading Hart's Hope. I've already finished it and it definitely isn't normal Card. I've started the Worthing Saga not bad so far. I was already looking ahead and went to Barnes and Nobles Saturday bought Lovelock and reserved a copy of the Crystal City. Has anybody else noticed that even in large book stores there is not much variety when it comes to the books they have. I see The Ender, shadow, alvin,and Homecoming books but not much else. Also has anyone picked up The first meetings in the Ender universe if so how is it. Sorry for rambling on.

I picked up First Meetings a couple weeks ago and I have to say that I was disappointed. It seemed too...short. It was fun to read the original Ender's Game short story. It's neat to see how the character evolved when OSC had an entire novel to develop him. Otherwise, the other stories were ok...there weren't enough of them and I felt jipped out of $17.

By the way...you didn't exactly tell us what you thought of Hart's Hope. I read it a few years ago and thought it was too full of pure SMUT to be enjoyable. When I read the other things that people liked about it, I try to remember...but I guess I was too put off by the other stuff to notice much else.
I JUST finished the Worthing Saga myself...very cool. I was fascinated with that whole universe that Card had created. It was neat to read that this is one of the concepts that he had been developing in his head since his early teens...which tells me that he was born to tell stories. That one is a really good one. I'm interested to hear what you think of both of them.

I just finished First Meetings last night. I had already read the original "Ender's Game" short story, so I bought the book for the other three stories.
The first two (about Ender's parents) I thoroughly enjoyed as I was reading them. The only sad part is that when I considered what was in store for them in their futures, it seemed to me that both stories were kind of tragic. I still liked getting to know John Paul and Theresa Wiggin though.
The last story, "Investment Counselor" was a *slight* letdown for me. I guess I expected to hear more of the connection forming between Ender and Jane instead of straight history. It kinda felt like it was progressing like a timeline with very little emotion. Like, this happened, then this happened, and then this happened, and then Jane stayed with Ender, and Ender became a Speaker for the Dead.
Overall though, I thought it was worth it. Too short, but worth it.
