Yeah. Will Smith plans on doing the Ender's Game movie. Well, actually, no, he is doing a completely unrelated sci-fi action movie, but it has to do with fighting off alien invaders. So the film's creators are planning on buying the rights to the title Ender's Game, since, you know, it's pretty much the same idea. And they love the book.

Unfortunately for Smith, he's involved in a bidding war with Tom Cruise's people, who want Cruise to star as Ender, with Katie Holmes as Petra, Ender's love interest. They have some neat ideas for the Battle Room, and have, in fact, decided to stage the climactic hand-to-hand battle between Ender and the Buggers of the Third Invasion in their battle room set. Steven Spielberg is all set to direct it.

As a dark horse candidate, John Travolta has expressed interest in writing up a script and directing and starring in the feature himself. Not much is known about his plans, but he has reassured his fans that "It will suck plenty."

George Lucas is also said to be interested. He is reported to have said that he should do the film, because with ILM and Skywalker Ranch, he has unparalleled technical ability to bring off this movie in the scope in which it should be done. Lucas plans for his own children to star in the film. When asked to elaborate on his vision of the movie, Lucas replied that he had not read the novel yet, but that he had already come up with a lot of great CGI sequences he was certain could be worked into the storyline.
