I've often been corrected by cognesceti/true fans on how I refer to OSC, whether to say "Card" or "Scott" but not "Orson". So what's the deal with "Uncle Orson"? Is he some kind of frightening alter ego under this name? Why doesn't he drop the Orson if he doesn't like it? It is a very distinctive marker. Plain "Scott Card" could be a Stephen King pen name, after all.
