Ty Franck's first novel, Leviathan Wakes, written under the pen name James S.A. Corey was published in the summer of 2011 by Orbit. Leviathan Wakes was a Locus Magazine Trade Paperback bestseller for two months in a row following its release, and has been listed by Amazon as one of the ten best science fiction or fantasy novels of 2011. The sequel, Caliban's War, will be published in the summer of 2012, to be followed by a third book in 2013. He has a second contract in the works with Orbit that will keep him writing novels and novellas for most of the decade.

Franck says, "Scott Card's Bootcamp taught me how to write and receive literary criticism. And that skill is directly responsible for the success I've had so far. It enabled me to join a professional writer's group and hold my own in critiquing sessions with half a dozen established writers. And this in turn led to polishing my writing, acquiring an agent, and selling my first three novels. I'll always be grateful to the Bootcamp and the skillset I learned there."
